Excuses, excuses.

That’s what we find throughout February’s section of Romans. Having laid out his devastating indictment of the human race in chapter 1, Paul now begins to shoot down excuses that might be offered by those who see themselves as undeserving of judgment. High moral standards, possession of the law of God, and even inclusion in God’s covenant will mean nothing when God calls us to give an account for our sin.

Paul then completes his presentation of the first major point in his exposition of the Gospel with the use of Scripture passages that vividly show the corruption of mankind. At this point, we will depart from our studies in Romans to spend five days exploring the human condition with the help of Dr. R.C. Sproul’s teaching series Total Depravity.
