No subject is more beneficial for us to study than the identity and works of our great God. As we come to better know who He is and what He has done, our faith and assurance are strengthened, and we are better equipped to defend the faith and pass it on to others. We grow in our love for the triune God and our confidence in His truth to the degree that we advance in our knowledge of Him and His mighty act of creation and works of providence.
We will be going deeper into our understanding of the mystery of the eternal God, and we pray that our study of the attributes and works of God has helped us all know Him better. This month, we are going to finish our overview of theology proper, or the doctrine of God, as we continue our study of the systematic theology of Scripture. We will consider what the Bible has to say about incommunicable attributes such as eternality and immutability as well as communicable attributes such as righteousness and patience.
The various attributes of God help us conceptualize His beauty and glory. Our study of theology proper will conclude with a look at those two attributes of God.
These verses parallel the themes of the studies each week. We encourage you to hide them in your heart so that you may not sin against the Lord:
