The promises of God in and through Christ are sure and unbreakable. None of them has ever failed, can ever fail, or will ever fail to come to pass. True certainty in this topsy-turvy world can be found only in Christ and what God has promised in and through Him.
Such an assertion is not merely an encouraging thought; it is demonstrable in history. For example, Jesus promised that He would rise from the dead, and His resurrection is a fact attested by many witnesses (Luke 18:31–33; 24:1–11; 1 Cor. 15:3–11).
Many people may not realize it, but the book of Acts shows us that the promises of Christ always come to pass. As we conclude our study of the book of Acts this month, looking to Acts 27–28, we will see that the Apostles did actually reach the ends of the known earth, as Jesus promised (1:8), for Paul made it to Rome and preached the gospel there without hindrance (28:17–31).
While we study Paul’s turbulent sea voyage to Rome and read of the Apostle’s preaching there, we will also be reminded of God’s work of regeneration. Dr. R.C. Sproul’s teaching series Born Again will assist us in understanding the new birth.
These verses parallel the themes of the studies each week. We encourage you to hide them in your heart so that you may not sin against the Lord:
