For two months we have endured Paul’s all-too-personal exposition of the human condition, seeing the depravity that pollutes each human soul, including our own. But the darkness of depravity gives way to the glorious dawn of salvation this month as Paul turns to an exposition of God’s remedy for sin, the Gospel. He paints for us a picture of a great and mighty work by which we are saved from our great and mighty sinfulness.

This month’s studies deal with the doctrine of justification by faith alone. Because this doctrine is at the heart of who we are as Protestants, we will pause at month’s end to consider its development in the church. Dr. R.C. Sproul’s “Renewing Your Mind” teaching series Justification by Faith Alone will be our guide for this study.
