Brace yourself. As we proceed in Judges, we are about to cover chapters 9, 10, and most of 11, where we will witness some of the most horrific events in Scripture—murders, massacres, a human sacrifice, treachery, and the ongoing harlotry of the Israelites in their worship of idols. The images are ugly and the people depraved. And yet, the covenant faithfulness of God and His love for His people can be found even in this darkness.

It is also here that we read Judges’ most detailed account of Israel turning to God for deliverance. However, the people’s expressions of repentance may or may not be genuine, and that prompts us to ask what true repentance entails. We will explore that oft-ignored question with the help of Dr. R.C. Sproul’s audio/video series Repentance.
