God goes to war for Israel in this month’s studies in the book of Joshua. The author of the book frequently observes that God delivers enemies into Israel’s hands. But God’s assistance for the armies of Israel is never so clearly revealed as when they take on a massed force of southern Canaanite kings in Joshua 10, the biggest battle of the conquest thus far. God wins that battle for Israel and then carries His people to a final victory over their enemies by the end of chapter 11. At that point, God’s promise to Abraham is fulfilled—his descendants have been given the land.

God is a promise-making, promise-keeping God. We will highlight this aspect of His nature this month by studying five promises of God and their fulfillments using Dr. R.C. Sproul’s audio series Promises.
